Job Description *
Horrocks Engineers is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to work out of our Pleasant Grove, Salt Lake, or Ogden, Utah offices beginning on July 8th, 2021. Responsibilities will include assisting with survey, monitoring, and excavation of cultural resources in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and Idaho. Additional responsibilities may include site form and report preparation. These positions are temporary and project-based, but are expected to provide full-time work for at least six weeks. Additional opportunities beyond six weeks may be available depending on project availability including both field and office work.
Job Requirements
•The completion of an archaeological field school is required and a BS or BA in anthropology with an emphasis on archaeology is preferred.
•Basic archaeological field skills for survey, excavation, and monitoring of construction work are necessary.
•Three months of experience in the Great Basin or Colorado Plateau is required.
•A familiarity with Utah Archaeology Site Form (UASF) format is also preferred.
•Applicants must be able to hike at least 10 miles per day in a variety of weather conditions in remote locations over difficult and uneven terrain while carrying up to 25 lbs. of gear.
•Most fieldwork will require overnight stays of up to a week. Preference will be given to local applicants who live along the Wasatch Front or in the Uinta Basin in Utah.
Compensation:
Hourly wage rates start at $16 and is based on education and experience. Per diem and single occupancy lodging are provided when applicable.
