Cardno is seeking an Archaeologist I to assist a multidisciplinary team of accomplished environmental scientists, including engineers, biologists, ecologists, archaeologists, and planners on a variety of utility projects in Southern California out of our Glendale, Santa Barbara, Bishop, Walnut Creek, or Sacramento office in California. Primary duties include review of utility projects for potential environmental impacts and collaboration with a large interdisciplinary team of scientists to complete environmental clearances for projects on a timely basis.
Job Description:
Cardno is seeking an Archaeologist I to assist a multidisciplinary team of accomplished environmental scientists, including engineers, biologists, ecologists, archaeologists, and planners on a variety of utility projects in Southern California out of our Glendale, Santa Barbara, Bishop, Walnut Creek, or Sacramento office in California. Primary duties include review of utility projects for potential environmental impacts and collaboration with a large interdisciplinary team of scientists to complete environmental clearances for projects on a timely basis.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
> Obtain clearance through client background check to access online system (upon employment)
> Comply with all Cardno and client policies including those related to safety, anti-harassment, and drug use.
> Review client requests for environmental clearance to ensure they provide adequate information.
> Conduct desktop reviews for environmental clearance work and ensure proper reviews.
> Conduct pedestrian field surveys.
> Coordinate monitoring schedules and ensure timely report deliverables.
> Engagement in the process and willingness to identify process improvements to provide benefit to our client.
Basic Qualifications:
> Desire to work in a team environment
> 1-2 years of California archaeology experience, SOI qualified or RPA strongly preferred.
> Bachelor degree (or higher) in Archeology or related field.
> Strongly proficient in computer software including Excel, MS word, and Survey123.
> Strong quantitative skills.
> A willingness and ability to work a non-standard or fixed schedule to meet client needs
> Demonstrated commitment to safety
> Solid time management and follow-through skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on and manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines.
> Willingness to travel and work in a variety of field conditions within California.
>Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgement.
> Ability to adapt the team and organization in a changing/dynamic environment.
> Possess an outgoing personality to network with Cardno and subcontractor staff.
> Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
> Must be physically fit and able to navigate rugged conditions on foot (day and night surveys may be required).
> Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
> RPA
> Experience with desktop analysis for determination of field survey needs for projects
> Field survey experience including conducting geophysical surveys, and writing detailed project reports.
