The Staff Archaeologist will be responsible for reviewing cultural resources actions and conducting cultural resources surveys for Oklahoma Department of Transportation projects in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Much of the cultural resources work is completed by consultants, so review of these materials is critical to the position. The candidate will be familiar with conducting background research, performing archaeological surveys (solo and as part of a team), and preparing cultural resources survey reports as well. The candidate must be familiar with the diverse nature of archaeological resources in Oklahoma and be able to identify and interpret archaeological sites documented during surveys. The successful candidate must be familiar with the National Historic Preservation Act and be able to assess archaeological sites under National Register of Historic Places criteria.
