Nature of Work
Department of Arts, Culture and History, Kanawha County – Under general direction of the Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer, candidate will maintain the Sate Historic Preservation’s Office property inventory; process inventory forms for inclusion in the State Historic Preservation Office survey files resulting from public submission in-house surveys or grant projects; work with the other staff to ensure inventory information is included in the GIS database; monitor survey projects sponsored by Historic Landmark Commission or other groups; monitor in house survey projects; provide information to the public regarding National Register and State Survey programs; work with other staff to evaluate eligibility stats of comments regarding specific properties; provide guidance to complete National Register Bulletin WV Code 29-1-8, and office survey manual; apply appropriate standards and criteria as set forth by the National Park Service to evaluate National Register eligibility, and; as assigned, research and write National Register nominations and complete supporting photographs and mapping, prepare written or verbal presentations of historic preservation information for educational purposes; conduct site visits as required to complete individual projects, candidate must pass a background check which may be a condition of employment. Other duties as assigned.
